Katharine Hepburn’s former Connecticut home is back on the market for $11.8 million according to Trulia, which is a steal compared to its 2011 listing price of $28 million. Hepburn's parents bought the Old Saybrook home in 1913, and she spent summers there as a child; in 1938, several years after she received her first Academy Award, the house received significant damage from a hurricane and the actress decided to rebuild the structure to what it is today. Up until her death in 2003, she still spent summers there. The 8,368-square-foot home sits along 220 feet of Long Island Sound beach. The six-bedroom, eight-bathroom space was built in 1939 and was completely renovated to preserve the home’s aesthetic in 2005.

The entrance has a high-ceilinged foyer, which is surrounded by a grand staircase leading up the home’s three stories. Light hardwood flooring is featured throughout the home, including the living room and dining room, which are lined with glass doors that overlook the backyard. The large kitchen is outfitted with custom white cabinets, white marble countertops, an AGA stove, and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. The breeze from Long Island Sound comes up into the al fresco dining area on the screened-in porch, where the light-blue ceiling mirrors the sky and grey stone flooring matches the jetty. The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling with an exposed brick wall above the seating area and a long window seat to admire views of the water. Another bedroom has its own fireplace and faces a paneless glass window, offering uninterrupted views. The home sits on almost 3.5 acres of land, which Hepburn designated to a conservation land trust, ensuring the area will remain open and unobstructed so that the stunning space can be forever enjoyed from its many viewpoints.
