23 of the Most Beautiful Abandoned Vehicles in the World
Over time every object on earth succumbs to nature, and that, of course, includes manmade structures. And while some objects vanish more quickly than others, iron and silver, among other metals, take a little longer to break down. This process—one in which time and nature turn a once-fast moving airplane and reduce it to a heap of rusted decay—is mesmerizing to watch. In a new book entitled Abandoned Wrecks (August 2017, $24), author Chris McNab takes the reader to far-flung corners of the globe, such as the doomed Titanic resting 12,500 feet beneath the surface of the ocean or the WWII-era cars left abandoned in the depths of a Swedish forest, where once more, as always, objects have succumbed to the power of nature.
